The 32nd Anniversary of the Vince Ryan Memorial Hockey Tournament will be held March 23rd through 26th, 2023. This tournament is one of the largest recreational adult hockey tournaments in the world.
The Vince Ryan Memorial Hockey Tournament is pleased to welcome teams this year after a difficult pause due to Covid-19. It has been a tough time for many but we are excited to once again enjoy hockey and hospitality like no other tournament on beautiful Cape Breton Island.
We are saddened that Molson Canadian/Coors Lite has withdrawn as a major tournament sponsor this year, as a result, the complimentary beer that was provided by Molson to each team in prior years will not be available at this year’s tournament.
Although disappointing, we are confident this year’s tournament will be as enjoyable as previous years. We wish all teams participating in the Vince Ryan Tournament well and hope you have the opportunity to not only enjoy great hockey but reunite with old friends and possibly make new ones. We would like to thank all teams for their support over the past 33 years and hope to see you for many years to come.
Every year over 160 teams from across Canada and the United States gather, bringing thousands of players to 10 rinks across the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) in Nova Scotia.
Proactively seeing the need for the development of female hockey programs in Nova Scotia, the tournament organizers launched what has become a successful female division for women 19 and over in 1999. More than 200 volunteers devote thousands of hours to make sure each and every participant enjoys their time to the fullest.
In addition to the competitive, exciting and sportsmanlike hockey, off the ice tournament time is known for reunions of friends and families, the start of new friendships, numerous social events, and great nightly entertainment at a number of locations. Along with our dances held on Saturday night at Center 200 Sydney and The Miners Form in Glace Bay.
