The 23st Annual Molson Canadian Coors Light Vince Ryan Memorial Scholarship Hockey Tournament will be held from Thursday, March 22nd to Sunday March 25th 2012, and teams from all over North America will be registering for this exciting annual tradition to pay tribute to Vince Ryan, his accomplishments and his vision of youth.

This Tournament is one of the largest adult hockey tournaments in the world.  Every year on beautiful Cape Breton Island, over 180 teams from across Canada and the United States gather.  In addition to the excellent hockey, the tournament offers great nightly entertainment at a number of locations, 2 tournament dances, great hospitality, and the tournament wouldn't be complete without the participation of former N.H.L players.  Last year, some of the special guests in attendance were Jean Beliveau, Harry Howell, and Bob Nevin.

Teams should be aware of immediate changes made to the Vince Ryan Memorial Scholarship Hockey Tournament.  Admission is on a first come first serve basis so be sure to register early.  Registration is not complete until full payment is received.  A team cannot be entered in the tournament via a verbal agreement nor will partial payments be accepted.

Register by January 13, 2012 and you will receive the early bird rate of $750.00 per team.  If taking advantage of the early bird rate, your team's payment of $750.00 must be paid in full by January 13, 2012.  The regular registration fee for 2012 is $800.00 (registration after January 13, 2012).  Please be aware that the tournament office closes at 4pm and no early bird payments will be accepted after this time.  Register early as we had to turn away more than 50 teams last year.  All registration payments must be paid by February 10, 2012 this will assist with the tournament scheduling and on-line information which will benefit your team.  Payments are to be made at the tournament office. There will be no exceptions made for teams wishing to register after the above date.  If your team has not paid by this date, whether local or out of town, your team will not be entered in the tournament.  Please be sure to include team roster.

Rosters can be completed on-line via this website. Simply click on the “Register Online” button to the left of this window, or choose “Register Online” under the “Team Registration” tab.

All local teams MUST play on Thursday.  Any off-island teams wishing to play on Thursday should notify the tournament office as soon as possible.  Any teams not playing on Thursday will begin on Friday and games could be scheduled as early as 12 noon.  Please ensure appropriate travel arrangements are made prior to entering the tournament.  There will be no scheduling requests accepted from any team, local or outside Industrial Cape Breton.

Division selection is based on past tournament results and/or discussion with new teams.  Teams should be aware that those players registered in higher divisions (those Divisions A through C) are not permitted to play on a second team in a lower division during the tournament.  For example, a player cannot play in the "A" division and also the "O" division.  Those discovered playing in both divisions will be suspended from the tournament and the team disqualified.  Tournament organizers will do their best to have your team placed in the correct division, which makes providing rosters with initial payment essential.

It has been brought to our attention that some teams have been playing with underage players.  There will be random checks during the tournament and if it is discovered that a team has an underage player all members of the team will be removed from the tournament and suspended from playing in future Vince Ryan Memorial Scholarship Hockey Tournaments.
