The Vince Ryan Memorial Scholarship Hockey Tournament is broadening its footprint and is pleased to offer each of the high schools in the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board, Cape Breton University, and both Nova Scotia Community College campuses (Marconi and the Strait) scholarship awards in the amount of $1000.00.

Who is eligible?

This award is open to all graduating high schools students from each of the 9 local area high schools in the Cape Breton Victoria Regional Schools Board and to all students enrolled in a post secondary school of choice, NSCC Marconi Campus, and NSCC the Strait Campus .

Who is not eligible?

Students whose parents are on the Vince Ryan Memorial Scholarship Hockey Tournament’s Board of Directors are ineligible to apply for this scholarship.

What are the criteria?

  1. Complete an application form
  2. Canadian citizen and a resident of Nova Scotia for at least two years
  3. Proof of registration to a post secondary institution.
  4. Transcript that verifies an average of 70% or higher in the current school year
  5. Has not previously received a scholarship from the Vince Ryan Memorial Scholarship Hockey Tournament
  6. Attach a current resume
  7. A summary of your current career goals, non-academic attributes, and what the scholarship will mean to you, which may include but is not limited to: a 250 word typewritten essay, a short video, or a collection of newspaper clippings.

What is the value?

The Vince Ryan Memorial Hockey Scholarship awards are in the form of a $1000.00 scholarship tuition credit that will be applied directly to the recipient’s postsecondary account. If there is no outstanding balance, a refund will be issued to the student from the post secondary institution.

What is the deadline?

Application must be received or postmarked no later than Friday, April 9, 2012.

The Vince Ryan Memorial Scholarship Hockey Tournament is pleased to offer $1000.00 scholarships to as many on-Island communities as possible in an attempt to broaden its footprint. These awards are made possible because of the generous support from our sponsors, players, and many volunteers!

By submitting your application, you agree to allow the Vince Ryan Scholarship Committee to contact your post secondary institution to confirm your enrollment and to use your name and/or photograph in conjunction with official promotions.
